"Islam is Dominated by Radicals"

A debate on April 15, 2008 hosted by the show Intelligence Squared put forth the premise "Islam is Dominated by Radicals." On the "pro" side appeared Daveed Garten-Stein Ross, Paul Marshall and Asra Nomani. On the "con" were Reza Aslan, Richard Bulliet and Edina Lekovic.

When the audience was polled with the following (paraphrased) question, upon entering the debate, the numbers were thus:

Do you agree or disagree with the statement that Islam is dominated by radicals?

43% agreed
32% disagreed
22% were undecided

After the debate, the numbers stacked up as follows:

73% agreed
23% disagreed
4% were undecided

During the debate, a number of shocking points were made by the "pro" team, using statistics concerning what is actually happening in the world today, including Islamic law in Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia and Iran, as well as how much money is being spent worldwide to spread "radical" Islamic fundamentalism that abides by these appalling laws. One point raised by Paul Marshall was that Iran has now recently proposed legislation that would make heresy and apostasy a capital offense even outside of Iran, meaning that, in Marshall's words, "Under Iranian law, Barack Obama should be executed as an apostate."

We are reminded that the "radical" Muslims are not only quite willing to kill and die for their cause, but they are "well funded, often by Saudi Arabia." We can look towards Saudi Arabia, in fact, for an example of a "true Islamic state," according to them, of course. There, Marshall informs us, the terms "human rights" and "democracy" are considered to be "un-Islamic terminology." Saudi Arabia's long brutal and oppressive history verifies this notion that human rights in that country are un-Islamic.

Marshall also reminds us that in Iran if you murder someone from an "unrecognized religion," such as the Bahai faith, you will not be punished. The life of a human being who is not a member of a recognized religion is as worthless as that of a dog or cat in Iran.

Iran and Saudi Arabia are in competition to spread their "radical" version of Islam around the world," the Saudis spending at least $3 billion a year on missionary causes.

We also hear about the millions of people who have died in the past few decades because of "radical" Islam being introduced into their countries, such as in Pakistan and Nigeria. This radicalization is happening even in moderate Muslim countries like Malaysia and Indonesia.

As concerns the "cons," one of the first comments out of Reza Aslan serves to establish the superiority of Islam, insulting the intelligence of the people in the audience at the same time (apparently because they are NOT Muslim): "So, I suppose it's not surprising that a large percentage in this room would believe that Islam - unquestionably the most eclectic, the most diverse religion in the history of the world - is dominated by radicals. After all, no field work or research is necessary to come to such a conclusion, just turn on your television...."

Yes, "unquestionably" is the correct term here, since questions are not encouraged within Islam. And how do total submission to Allah and the compulsion to pray five times a day constitute "diversity?"

Moreover, those who are speaking out against Islamic fundamentalism, such as Ayaan Hirsi Ali, have often been in the heart of it, not just sitting in front of the boobtube, mindlessly watching propaganda films.

Aslan continues in the same vein, stating that the cartoons that cause people to riot are "deliberately provocative." (Can't you hear it now: "Your honor, she was wearing a miniskirt, so I had to rape her.") Aslan also calls Geert Wilders a "racist," evidently because he doesn't want "radical" Islam to destroy his country or the world. (Reza apparently does not understand that Islam is NOT a race, as he, a darker-skinned Persian sits next to a white Muslim woman.) As a typical Muslim apologist, Aslan just cannot acknowledge that "radical" Islam is the source of violence and terror the world over. He couldn't possibly answer Marshall's factual recitation with a truly MODERATE statement like, "Yes, that doesn't sound very good, and I do not support those things within Islam." No, he immediately started insulting people, in a typically aggressive Muslim manner.

In the fourth clip, in response to a question by Garten-Stein Ross, Aslan essentially proves the point about every devout Muslim potentially being "radical," when he asserts that Islam is not "just a religion" but an identity, and that an attack on Islam is an attack on him personally which would warrant violence. In his response, in fact, Aslan seems to start shaking with anger at the very thought of "his" religion being assailed.

Re-wording a question from Daveed Garten-Stein Ross to ask, "Should I act violently in defense of my religion," the so-called "moderate" Reza Aslan responds, "ABSOLUTELY."

Is that not radical Islam in a nutshell?

It is my long-held stance that religious fanaticism is a form of psychopathy, and these responses merely verify my position. I personally hold that we are NOT "our" religion - indeed, they are not even OUR religions but are borrowed beliefs extending back to caveman days - and that becoming violent against a living, breathing human being over such an IDEOLOGY is in itself evil. In the end, my constant requests online since 1995 for people to DROP religious "isms" and "i(n)anities," and just be HUMAN BEINGS become even more urgent and meritable.

Back on the pro side, Asra Nomani gives us an insider's view about how even in the U.S. moderate Muslims are now being bombarded by radical Islam calling for the ostracism and oppression of non-Muslims.

Con speaker Edina Lekovic essentially admits that Islam does not belong to the 21st century and that electing a secular government is a good thing, as is "integration" (i.e., assimilation) for Muslims. Indeed, her remarks pretty much prove that Islam IS dominated by radicals, as she puts out the call for help to overpower them.

Daveed Garten-Stein Ross goes into factual detail about the lack of human rights and religious freedoms in Muslim countries, as well as the opinion, for example, of many Muslims in the West that Muslim apostates should be killed. Ross also nails home the point that Saudi Arabia is radical and that its ideology is being pushed all over the world, using oil money. He also addresses the fact that "mainstream" Muslim organizations are now attempting to shut down free speech worldwide, demonstrating their desire for hegemony.

Anyway, I could make comment throughout this debate - and I was doing so as I watched it - but this blog would then become very long.

In the end, the debate here was not whether or not Islam is a "great religion" but whether it is dominated by so-called radicals - who, it should be noted, consider themselves in fact to be the REAL Muslims and are, therefore, not "radical" at all.

The verdict is in: "Islam is dominated by radicals."

Earth Day 2008: Hemp for Food and Fuel!

On this weekend before Earth Day, with celebrations worldwide, we find ourselves gripped globally by a food shortage caused in large part by rising fuel costs. Adding to this problem is the increasingly serious population growth. Indeed, I am reminded during this crisis of two pertinent subjects: Firstly, Paul Ehrlich, who wrote The Population Bomb in 1968, but who was roundly assailed and dismissed at the time. Unfortunately, he is being proved correct, as common sense would have told us all along. The second subject that keeps popping up provides a major solution to the world's food and energy crises. It's been sitting there all along, vilified and suppressed by the ruling elite, who appear to care not a fig for the world's poor and suffering but who only seem to want to make their fortunes off polluting and destroying the earth. What I'm talking about is the prohibition of one of the world's most versatile plants: Hemp or cannabis.

The history of hemp is long and varied, and need not be reproduced here but can be viewed in part in the videos included here. Suffice it to say that, rather than for "moral" purposes having to do with the medicinal or recreational uses of one strain of cannabis, the prohibition of hemp has largely revolved around the desire by the ruling elite to horde and profit off of the resources they have virtually monopolized since the 1930s and earlier. Indeed, in my mind one of the greatest criminals in history is William Randolph Hearst, who, along with his "hired Anslinger," so to speak, almost singlehandedly managed to destroy the American hemp industry. Now, much of the environmental destruction can be placed squarely on the heads of this tiny minority of monopolizers. With hemp, there would have been little need for the oil industry and its attendant globe-destroying pollution and degradation. Another benefit of hemp production and the non-necessity of Middle Eastern oil would have been the lack of funding for "radical" Islamic extremists whose stated goal is total global domination, using billions of petrodollars currently at their disposal.

Instead of a peaceful, clean and well-nourished planet and populace, we are currently poised on the edge of the abyss from which many millions will never recover. The prohibition of hemp constitutes one of the greatest crimes against humanity ever committed. Millions of human beings will now die, millions more will be enslaved under a totalitarian system of government, and the suffering will go on, all for the want of a plant that has more uses than can be listed here.

The people in power who have upheld the criminal hemp prohibition should be ashamed, but I fear that they have no conscience at all - an assertion constantly validated by their actions. If the ruling elite cannot make massive amounts of money off of something, it will not only fall by the wayside, it will be deliberately kicked there. And that relegation is what has happened to hemp, a true gift of nature that could still solve many of our problems globally - if these powermongering sociopaths will step out of the way.

Will humankind wake up and make the necessary changes now that it faces an appalling crisis of a magnitude never before seen? I certainly hope so.

(In 1992, when Jerry Brown was running for President, I stood up at one of his press conferences and asked him, "Isn't it time to look to hemp to solve many of the world's problems?" He blanched, and one of his cameramen groaned and removed the camera from me. Brown deflected the question, answering only my previous question about his international policies. That's the sort of fearful environment we've lived in that has now led us to this atrocious mess.)

"ZEITGEIST, Part 1" Debunked? NOT!

"ZEITGEIST, Part 1" - Debunked or Refuted? A Video Response

The intriguing internet movie "ZEITGEIST" has been an astounding hit, with over 15 million views worldwide in English and several other languages. In the past several months, there have been many claims on websites and in forums and videos all over the internet that the first part of ZEITGEIST has been "refuted" and "debunked." Contrary to these claims, the facts continue to demonstrate otherwise.

First of all, let me clarify that I was not involved in the creation of ZEITGEIST, other than providing a few images and consulting on Part 1 at the last minute, the result of which was the final, "Official" version. However, my work did serve as a significant inspiration for Part 1. I had no involvement in Parts 2 and 3, and make no comment thereupon in this article.

Because of my work's influence on Part 1 of ZEITGEIST, a number of the debunking sites have been directed largely at me and my contentions formulated over the past 15 years. While we would expect a debate as to the facts, the vitriolic and bilious nature of these refutations reflects a severe weakness of intelligent argument. Moreover, the detractors - whether theists or atheists and other freethinkers - quite often HAVE NOT ACTUALLY STUDIED MY WORK, and there has not been one "refutation" site to our knowledge that has proceeded from an informed and unbiased perspective, accurately presenting facts based on serious research. Despite pretending to be experts on the subject in general and my work in particular, none of these individuals has given any indication that he or she has read my Companion Guide to ZEITGEIST, Part 1, which already deals with a number of the facts purportedly "debunked" and which sets the tone for further discussion of the claims in ZEITGEIST. Because such individuals are not aware of the facts and evidence in my books, they apparently feel the need to attack me personally, demonstrating a lack of substance and objectivity on their part, despite their pretenses to the contrary.

It should be noted that I am not and have never been adverse to reading Christian material or factual rebuttals to my work or that of anyone else. Over the years, I have continually factored such information into my work. In reality, I was born and raised a Christian, from a family of Christians dating back many hundreds of years. My mother's family landed in America in 1630, as Puritans, and my mother was the longtime secretary, choir director and soloist of our Protestant Congregationalist church. I was also briefly a born-again Christian - I know the material very well. Who could miss Christian proselytizing? In America, it is available all over the place - in our books, newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, movies - we are inundated with Christianity. But if anyone dares to raise their small voice of objection or alternative perspective, they are beaten down with disparagement and vituperation. (Such vitriol, by the way, continues, as several people have attempted to post vicious and insulting comments here - be advised that such posts will not be passed through, but they do prove my point about religious fanaticism causing hatred and incivility towards other human beings.)

In this regard, what I am adverse to is going to a website or video and seeing or hearing libel and defamation against me, as well as the inaccurate portrayal of my work - and so far, none of the Zeitgeist-debunking material we have encountered has been free of this type of invective and abuse.

Unlike my detractors in their refutations, I do not engage in vitriol and calumny in this work. Instead, I provide FACTUAL MATERIAL from primary sources and the work of highly credentialed and qualified scholars. While it is true that ZEITGEIST does not thoroughly identify the various primary-source images it uses in its claims, the important point is that such sources do exist. Furthermore, ZG's creator, Peter Joseph, did not set out to present a scholarly documentary on the topic in the 25 minutes that comprise Part 1. Of course, those who think they can adequately cover the last 5,000 years of religious history in under 25 minutes are free to make their own video.

Despite all the efforts to refute the information and sources in Part 1 of ZEITGEIST, the bottom line will remain the same:

When the subject matter is examined scientifically and in depth, there continues to be no credible evidence for the existence of the gospel character named Jesus Christ, and the preponderance of scientific evidence points to him being as mythical a character as the Greek god Hercules and the many other deities of the Roman Empire of the time.

While people who take such a position are widely subjected to ridicule and derision, based on all the evidence this conclusion is demonstrably the most reasonable and logical. Furthermore, in a truthful world where we should not be compelled to reside in BLIND BELIEF, this perspective should be allowed to exist without its holders being derogated and abused, as well as dunned with impossibly high standards of proof, while claims in the religious arena require little to no proof at all! In addition, rather than attacking living, breathing human beings, in my work I tackle deleterious ideologies that have caused the deaths of hundreds of millions of people.

To demonstrate the utter lack of quality in the assaults on my credibility and character that somehow "prove" the existence of Jesus Christ, I have been labeled not only a "liar," "fraud" and "poor scholar," but also a "Freemason," an "Illuminati," a "CIA agent," a "Mossad agent" and a "Zionist" - utterly ridiculous notions so undeserving of dignifying that I have hitherto not addressed them. Nor am I a member of any Theosophical Society or any organization having to do with Luciferians, etc., ad absurdum - other silliness slung my way. These claims are entirely laughable, needless to say. Not to mention that these folks are BEARING FALSE WITNESS AGAINST ME, which breaks one of the 10 Commandments!

"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." (Exodus 20:16; Matthew 19:18)

Rather than providing credible, scientifically valid evidence and proof for their assertions, detractors thus continually engage in an endless stream of ad homs and other fallacies to distract away from the issues raised in "ZEITGEIST, Part 1." One of the contentions constantly bandied about as if it constitutes some great triumph is the notion that Jesus Christ was not born on December 25th or the winter solstice; therefore, the comparisons with other gods are inapt. The fact will remain that many millions of people over the centuries have been taught to believe that a Jewish son of God named Jesus Christ not only existed but was born on December 25th. This straw-man argument merely serves to prove our point that Jesus is not the "reason for the season." This and the equally fallacious "three kings" argument are addressed in my Companion Guide, along with much else.

What it comes down to is this - who has reason, logic and common sense on their side? The people who claim that there is an invisible Jewish guy floating all over the sky, or those who assert that this implausible figure is a myth based on previous myths? And if this story is based on myth - which logic and reason suggest it is - what were the myths? That is all I am doing with my work. No CIA, Illuminati or Mossad is necessary for an individual to have such an understanding and to attempt to share it with others. It is sheer common sense, period.

Not a few of the debunking sites rely on shallow "encyclopedia surfing" that will not reveal pertinent facts because of a well-oiled censorship machine that has been in place since long before the Inquisition and that remains to this day to a large extent - as we can see from these frantic and hysterical attempts at debunking, which rely almost entirely on ignorance based on censorial behavior by authorities over the centuries and millennia. Such censorship is responsible for a massive amount of destruction of primary sources - this shameful, deliberate devastation is what we should recall every time a debunker cries out for "primary sources!" Meanwhile, detractors themselves provide NO primary-source evidence for their own extraordinary claims. Furthermore, much of the pertinent data I provide in my books cannot be found in English but appears in other languages, such as Greek, Latin, German, French, as well as Hebrew and Egyptian, of course. Unless someone can work within these languages, he or she may never encounter this important information.

In addition, scholars in relevant fields operating within mainstream institutions themselves are frequently hemmed in by a variety of factors that will not allow them even to contemplate the data discovered through intensive research into comparative religion and mythology. In previous eras not long ago, one could not only lose one's occupation for delving deeply into the issues and having the audacity to broadcast such discoveries, but one could also be subjected to imprisonment on charges of heresy and blasphemy, among other even less savory situations. Mainstream scholars have also been urged not to "rock the boat," as well as to preserve the status quo - and their livelihoods frequently depend on conformity. Moreover, many scholars these days are so specialized that they do not cover the broad diversity of subjects involved in this particular field of research. Scholars in past eras were less specialized - and they did in fact make these connections within comparative religion, as my research demonstrates.

Many of us are delighted by the amazing success of ZEITGEIST, for the major reason that it has generated tremendous interest in what I consider to be some of the most intriguing subjects on the planet - comparative religion, mythology and astrotheology - but what has unfortunately been swept under the carpet for too long, in favor of biased, ethnocentric fallacies reducing the grandeur of the cosmos to petty fish tales.

If you have an interest in the direction humanity is going, you might want to know that I believe and hope it is towards a reawakening of the HIDDEN KNOWLEDGE I and others are bringing to light regarding religion and mythology - and this new development is another major step in that direction.

The Muslim World Throws a FITNA - Again

Once again, the Muslim world has gone into a state of apoplexy and thrown a fit, or FITNA, as the case may be. What else is new?

For those who haven't heard, "FITNA" is a movie by Dutch politician Geert Wilders exposing the connection between the Islamic holy text the Koran/Quran and the violence found abundantly in the Muslim world for the past 1,400 years or so.

This movie - which, we are constantly reminded, no one has ever seen - is so powerful, apparently, that the entire Muslim religion will be destroyed by it in a heartbeat. At least, that's the impression given by the incredible frantic knee-jerk reaction that had the unprecedented affect of shutting down the film's website before anything of substance was even posted there!

Because of "complaints," the registrar of Wilders's domain fitnathemovie.com, Network Solutions, has "temporarily suspended" the account, which means the film cannot be posted there. This censorship situation occurred precisely at the point when Wilders claimed he would release the film. Here is a screenshot of the site with the notice from Network Solutions:
When we go to the site to see what could possibly be so egregious as to cause such aggressive behavior, we are faced with a "Acceptable Use Policy" that prohibits the following:

"...material that is obscene, defamatory, libelous, unlawful, harassing, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, constitutes an illegal threat, violates export control laws, hate propaganda, fraudulent material or fraudulent activity, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, profane, indecent or otherwise objectionable material of any kind or nature."

We would wager that Network Solutions is investigating "FITNA" under "hate propaganda," an ironic situation in consideration of the fact that this movie is allegedly basically just a recitation of the KORAN - indeed, that it is apparently making the case that the KORAN itself constitutes "hate propaganda." How else are we to interpret a text - the KORAN - that repeatedly calls for the deaths and/or punishment of non-believers and that has been followed to such ends as to lead to the deaths and/or punishment of hundreds of millions of people?

Here are just a few of the attacks on "infidels" in the Koran - "scriptures" that have unquestionably been used over the centuries to slaughter unbelievers of all manner - and that is precisely what "FITNA" was supposedly designed to demonstrate to the world.

Fight for the sake of God those that fight against you, but do not attack them first. God does not love the aggressors.

Slay them wherever you find them. Drive them out of the places from which they drove you. Idolatry is worse than carnage.... --Q 2:190-2:191, "The Cow," Dawood, p. 28.

[Note that within Islam, many things can and are interpreted to be "aggression," such that the death penalty is freely handed out.]

When the sacred months are over slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them.... --Q 9:5; "Repentance," Dawood, p. 186.

Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home: an evil fate. --Q 9:73, "Repentance," Dawood, p. 198.

Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and forsake them in beds apart, and beat them. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them. Surely God is high, supreme. --Q 4:34, "Women," Dawood, p. 83.

If these quotes from the Koran do not constitute HATE PROPAGANDA, then what does? According to Network Solutions, a 10 or 15-minute film that exposes such attacks on infidels (and women) does represent "hate propaganda!" In other words, with their disgraceful behavior, Network Solutions is preventing millions of people from their "God-given" right to know what is in the Koran and how it has been used to conquer and "slay idolaters" around the world.

And in the meantime, Network Solutions has no problem, apparently, serving as the registrar of the violent terrorist organization Hizbollah, the "Army of God!" So much for the "ethics" of Network Solutions. Note that the "WHOIS" information for hizbollah.org has now been CENSORED to omit the fact that it is Network Solutions who is the registrar! Needless to say, the behavior of Network Solutions is cowardly and unethical - but it has brought so much more attention to Wilders's film that, should he ever release it, millions more now know about it and will likely clamor to see this "forbidden fruit." And let us hope for the sake of freedom of speech, democracy and, indeed, freedom in general, that Wilders does manage to release his film. We know that there are millions of people anxiously standing by waiting to see it, undoubtedly many of the Muslims themselves who would like to know what could be so bad in their Koran that a film about it needs to be censored - and its filmmaker needs to be under constant guard because of all the death threats he has received, falling right in line with what he is exposing in this film.

In reality, Geert Wilders has already proved his point, as he cannot even walk outside freely simply because he dared criticize a book that, as demonstrated above, clearly has as one of its agendas global hegemony and the slaughter of nonbelievers.

If the film really exists - and Wilders insists that it does - Wilders has a number of options here, including, as he has suggested, "passing out DVDs on the Dam," but also bit torrents, as well as simply providing his film to the many other websites and outlets that have expressed their willingness to host it. We can only hope that this film will be widely distributed, as it is obviously vitally important for the freedom of the entire world. We could even imagine the Vatican hosting it on its website - who will stop the Vatican?

Just so no readers of mine will be surprised if they wake up one day to a loud and obnoxious "call to prayer" designed to enslave them down to their very soul....

That is very much the goal of the Muslim Brotherhood and its many offshoots that are freely operating around the world and are funded by hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars in Middle Eastern oil money.

Lest you make the mistake that this devious plot is far offshore and away from reality, you should know that it is in fact under your very eyes and is being enabled by all sorts of dhimwitted apologists who see nothing wrong with allowing anti-West fanatics to operate with impunity right here on American soil. As is happening in Europe at an alarming rate, if we do not become aware to what is occurring right now in the U.S., we will be living in the United States of Arabia, or some variant thereof. All of our hard-earned civil rights will be gone, and the bulk of humanity will be enslaved under Islamic domination - including and especially women, as the enslavement and abuse of women is what essentially defines Islam, in significant part.

Here is what at least 100 mosques and Muslim schools in the United States are currently up to, with no apparent interference from governmental officials:

The American citizens must call for their politicians to shut down all mosques and Muslim schools that are teaching this evil trash, and deport all the preachers of such venom wherever they can.

No more mosques or Muslim schools built in the United States - until the Muslim world opens itself up to a proliferation of churches, synagogues and secular organizations. No more Muslim immigration - unless the Muslim world allows its non-Muslim populations to increase and freely operate, with full rights to citizenship and the human rights accorded in decent and civilized nations.

Islam constitutes Arab cultural imperialism, pure and simple. Its proponents will settle for nothing less than total global domination. And at the moment, they are winning, because much of the rest of humanity may be too kind and loving to recognize the threat by such predators - or too terrorized already by the "religion of peace." (Or, of course, bought off, as is the case with many politicians.)

Get rid of all politicians on all levels who tolerate, endorse, appease or promote this sort of mentality. And for heaven's sake, do not elect as president a man who has the most ties to Islam - many to radical Islam, in fact - than any other candidate in history.

The following is another great video rant by the fabulously brilliant British comedian Pat Condell, this time regarding the nonsense by the Archdhimmi of Canterbury concerning England adopting elements of Islamic or sharia law.

Pat's advice regarding Islam is simple: Don't let Muslims get away with anything that is against the law in the countries in which they live. Stop appeasing Muslims and handing them concessions as they attempt to muscle their way into every aspect of non-Muslim society - in order to destroy much of it. And so on - this video is, as usual, a must-see. If we don't wake up and use the strong medicine provided by Pat and so many others, we will fulfill the prophecy of a Muslim woman in Great Britain during the '70s, who remarked: "Some day you will all be our slaves." Yup, that's just about right.

"Islam...has faults that I can't live with, and I won't live with under any circumstances. And a lot of people in this country feel exactly the same way. The reason we don't want any aspect of sharia law in our society is because it is a manifestation of clerical fascism, and because it favors men over women, which makes it a violation of civilized democratic values....

"...People say you can't judge Islam by its followers, but that's like saying you can't judge a football team by its results. Islam is its followers....

"...The solution is not more appeasement, dialogue and debate. The solution is to enforce the law, equally and impartially for everyone, regardless of whether it's inconvenient for some Muslims. The solution is to prosecute those who incite terror, to close down the mosques and deport the imams. Any sane society would be doing this automatically. Global Environmental Destruction Will Lead to the Deaths of Millions

For several decades, ever since I was a small child, I have been what may be considered an "environmentalist." As a child, I had an innate and immediate love for nature, which was further inculcated by the responsible practices - not "tree hugging" - of my truly "caring conservative" parents. In the 1960s, my family was recycling as much as we could at the time, including newspapers, bottles and cans, and I honestly believed that was the way most people lived on planet Earth. When I moved to the Big Apple following college, I was stunned to discover that the largest city on Earth had no recycling programs, not even for newspaper!

That unconcerned development was appalling enough, but I subsequently discovered upon moving to Los Angeles that one of the sunniest places on Earth had almost no involvement in solar energy! Frankly, in consideration of the fact that even in some of the poorest parts of Greece decades ago one could find solar panels on homes for heating water, I view this omission in one of the richest areas of the world to be disgraceful. Moreover, all attempts at becoming "greener" have largely been met with open hostility, including "killing the electric car" and other atrocities committed by Big Business along the way.

Shockingly, the destruction continues, not only unabated but actually exacerbated, no matter how much effort many generous, world-loving individuals have put into rectifying the situation, with countless man- and woman-hours spent worldwide on rallying for a better global attitude and policy towards the only home we all possess and share.

Heaven Above Earth?

My own natural activism has always been first and foremost that of preserving our planetary home. Along the way in this process, I kept butting heads with the utterly obstructive and unbalanced mentality towards our Earth expressed by organized religion. Because of my own interest and aptitude to religion, I decided to combine my efforts towards improving attitudes about life on planet Earth. An entire study could be made, of course, of the effects of religious psychosis on the environment, a derangement that made itself abundantly clear in the statements of the U.S. Secretary of the Interior under President Ronald Reagan, James G. Watt. Based on his remarks, Watt was a fervent Christian whose apparent mission in life was to destroy the environment as much as he could because such global destruction would supposedly bring about the "Second Coming" of Jesus Christ. When I encountered this depraved mentality that would sacrifice hundreds of millions of people in order to "prove" the reality of a religious delusion, I was naturally struck by the notion that the First Coming had not even been proved to have happened, so it would be completely foolish to bet the house on the Second Coming.

Despite various improvements made - because of the great personal cost and sacrifice by many individuals, including Christians who bucked the trend and were widely ridiculed, castigated and abused for it - the attitude of many devoutly religious people today remains: "World be damned, my personal faith must reign." This selfish attitude is particularly obvious within the religions of Christianity and Islam. While Christians have made tremendous inroads from the dark days of Watts, because of their conditioning many Muslims continue to believe that they can and must outpopulate everyone else on the planet and that their "superior" religion must rule by hook or crook, regardless of the terrible cost to the environment and to human and non-human life.

The facts are that we all must continue to address environmental degradation on every front, including and especially religious delusion that has no concern for our planetary home. Such delusion - such dementia - needs to be thoroughly addressed and aggressively removed from the mass human psyche, or else we will see the deaths of hundreds of millions of people, not only because of a pending World War III or "Armageddon" based on religious psychosis, but also because the rampant overpopulation by the religiously inclined who have absolutely no concern for the environment or any particular life form on Earth but who are obsessively focussed on the "afterlife" and protecting the "good name" of God will undoubtedly lead to an environmental holocaust of global proportions, with the result of not only tremendous human suffering but the massive loss of life within the natural, non-human world as well. Frankly, it is quite apparent that at this point many if not most Muslim nations have very little interest in the environment. Again, religious psychosis evidently demands the destruction of the environment.

In the end, no god possessing any decency at all would be interested in the massive destruction of "his" creation, including loss of life in numbers that stagger the mind - and that is precisely where we are headed. This fact of pending decimation means, of course, that when hundreds of millions are dead, all of this mindless religious bickering will have been for naught, proving itself not only useless but also highly dangerous, as many people believe it to be.

If we are going to save this earth for future generations, we simply must contain the rabid religious delusion ruining life, with absolutely no concern for "offending" religious sensibilities of any sort that stand in the way of preserving our global home. Such "religious sensibilities," in fact, are utterly offensive to those of us who actually care for being alive on planet Earth, who love this world, and who want to see our children and grandchildren live in health and happiness. Religious fundamentalism is one of the greatest threats to realizing this dream, and it needs to be checked now, or we will see the deaths of hundreds of millions within the coming decades.

ZEITGEIST Day - March 15, 2008

Have you heard about "Z Day?" Peter Joseph, the maker of the hit internet movie phenomenon ZEITGEIST, has set up March 15, 2008 as "ZEITGEIST Day," encouraging the showing of the film all over the world at that time.

So far, the response has been overwhelming. Peter has created a page at his site with hundreds of showings globally - and the list is not yet complete! In fact, he can't keep up with the requests, which he tells me are coming in at 150 per day!

When Peter sent me an email a couple of months ago asking whether or not he should create "ZEITGEIST Day," I immediately answered with an emphatic "YES!" He wondered if this phenomenon would still have steam... As we can see, this train is mindbogglingly still on track, receiving tens of thousands of hits per day, and that's just in English! ZEITGEIST has now been translated into several other languages as well.

One of the more popular languages ZEITGEIST has been translated into is German. There is currently someone also working on translating into German my ebook The Companion Guide to ZEITGEIST, Part 1. And speaking of which, Peter just passed me a neat little comment on the Companion Guide, which I've posted at my site as well:

If you haven't seen the movie with a group of people, I highly encourage you to participate in some way on "ZEITGEIST Day." I have now watched it a couple of times with a significant amount of people, once in Hollywood with Peter and 650 other people at the Artivist Film Festival, where it won "Best Feature" award - it was an incredible experience. I am aware that there are those who would disagree with parts of ZEITGEIST, some with Part 1, others with Parts 2 and 3, but artistically speaking, the collective experience was extremely moving. (And I do nonetheless consider it a brilliant work and certainly reflective of the "spirit of the times.")

After another public showing of ZEITGEIST at which I also spoke, I had a delightful conversation with some sweet young folks who are so moved by the film that I nicknamed them the "Z GENERATION." We all joked that it was perfect, because we've had Generation X, but those who have followed have not really had a moniker - this one constitutes the end of the line, the Omega of the "Alpha and the Omega."

Truly, we are witnessing the birth of a phenomenon that could be called "The ZEITGEIST Generation" or "The Z Generation." You heard it here first.

ZEITGEIST Companion Guide Forum Thread

Ron Paul and the Neo-Nazis

I recently received the following message from my friend David Bergland, the 1984 Libertarian Presidential Candidate who has known Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul for many years. I asked him to clarify the rumors regarding Ron Paul's connection to "Neo Nazis" and "white supremacists," gossip that turns out to be a petty load of nonsense, as I expected.

While I do not agree with Ron Paul on certain issues, the fact will remain that on the most important aspect of his life's work--upholding the United States Constitution--I concur with him completely. You see, in preserving the Constitution, Dr. Paul and I can disagree on other subjects, freely and with respectful debate. Without the Constitution, one or the other perspective may become the dominant one, with the result of vicious fascism we have seen abundantly worldwide for millennia. Moreover, I entirely understand Paul's viewpoint that these issues upon which he and I do not agree--e.g., abortion--are not truly Constitutional or federal matters, but should be left up to the individual states. (I am also aware that Paul is a fervent born-again Christian, which, obviously, does not jell with my perspective of reality, but, again, his focus on upholding the Constitution gives him high marks in my book, as I consider that document to be A Truly Sacred Scripture preventing the world from descending into barbarism.)

In this regard, I am glad that Ron Paul is having so much success in his campaign, although I am cynical that the Twiddle-Dee & Tweedle-Dum Republocrat political system will allow him to take charge of the United States government. It is extremely hopeful, however, that someone of his caliber of honesty and integrity has managed to attain to such a high political office in the first place. (By the way, I've been reading Ron Paul's writings since the late 90s, and I can attest that he has been consistent for all that time. Nor do I believe he is part of any governmental "psy-op.")

Since Ron Paul has been unfairly smeared, I thought it important to bring to the forefront a well-written retort from my pal David Bergland, who considers Dr. Paul to be a politician of the highest standards of character. Following is what David Bergland had to say about the vicious rumors regarding Paul's purported ties to "Nazis" and "white supremacists." I reproduce Mr. Bergland's remarks here with his permission.

Dear Acharya:

Since you asked, there are no ties to neo-nazis, nor has there ever been. One white
supremacist sent Ron a $500 contribution. His attackers want him to return it. His response is: it's already been spent promoting liberty; if I return it, the donor will spend it on his foolishness. Also, he made the contribution to Ron to support Ron's efforts on behalf of liberty, not the other way around. Oh yeah, there was also a story about Ron having lunch with neo-nazis at some local restaurant in Washington. That was crap and the rag that published it retracted the story later.

There was also a crap piece in The New Republic about some not so nice, allegedly racist, statements in a financial newsletter that Ron published (not edited) a couple decades ago. Ron did not write the material and does not know who did. He has stated that he failed to exercise sufficient control over the newsletter content and disavows the negative stuff. The TNR article is just one example of how Ron Paul's enemies consistently decline to take him on based on his positions on the issues (which he has held for his 20 years in Congress) and are reduced to digging back into ancient newsletters for ammunition. On the "racism" issue, here is an interesting anecdote.

A while back, Congress was planning to give a medal of honor to Rosa Parks. Ron opposed it because Congress is not authorized by the Constitution to spend taxpayer money on such things. At the same time, he pulled a $100 bill out of his pocket and stated that he would contribute it to a voluntarily financed medal for Ms. Parks. He also invited all the other Congresscritters to do the same. Not a single one accepted the invitation! But they did spend your tax money for it.

Our political and economic system is truly sick. I know Ron Paul personally, and know him to be 100% straight, honest, tolerant and completely committed to limited constitutional government. That's why I've been so busy in the Ron Paul Revolution.

One last item: abortion. I am a pro-choicer, but respect Ron's position because it focuses on the federal government role as limited by the Constitution. He correctly contends that the federal government has no authority in this area at all. The issue should be left to the states. Some states will authorize it, some won't. That's federalism; we should not undermine that important constitutional principle on "our" issue because that opens the door for all others to destroy federalism and allow the feds to run everything. (Most people really don't understand how
important it is to stick to principle, do they?)

Google Suppressing Truth Be Known

For the past couple of months, Google has been suppressing my website TruthBeKnown.com so that it doesn't come up in the search engine results. The reasons for this suppression are unclear. (Google is never clear about such things.)

In order to remedy this situation, I have completely gutted and redone my site, and have been patiently waiting for my site to be reinstated, to no avail. As it stands, no one can even find my site by doing a search on my name! The same thing occurs with numerous search terms that I continue to rank well with on Yahoo and MSN, whose policies appear to be more reasonable at this point and whose search results in this case are obviously much better at this time.

Since my site is certainly not in violation of Google's "Terms of Service," I have to wonder what this penalty is really about at this point. My website is an "old, trusted authority site" online for almost a decade, with thousands of inbound links, many of which are also from trusted authority sites, such as .edu. Is there some type of bias going on, or will Google finally stop suppressing my site so that their search engine results are more appropriate?

Whenever someone does a search on Google, there is a link at the bottom in a blue box that says "Dissatisfied? Help us improve." If one clicks on that link, a box will come up regarding the relevant search term, asking for a reason "why you were dissatisfied with the search results." There is also a space for a URL/link that one would expect to see when one searches for that term, such as http://www.truthbeknown.com

If one tries to do a search for "Acharya S" or "Truth Be Known," my site should come up at the top - which it used to before it was being suppressed. It may be that Google responds to these "dissatisfaction" comments, if one is inclined to make them. Perhaps the more (polite) comments Google receives, the more attention it pays to problems.

Every day this situation goes on is another day that people can't find my site or any of its many original articles.

As another example, my site used to rank no. 1 for "origins of christianity," which would get a person to http://www.truthbeknown.com/origins.htm It still ranks right up there on Yahoo, but in Google it's nowhere to be found.

Ditto with "quotes from the koran," which used to bring up http://www.truthbeknown.com/islamquotes.htm

There are many more examples like these. Again, obviously, my site is being deliberately suppressed by Google.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue. Hopefully this situation with Google can e resolved soon.

(FYI, last year Google suddenly de-indexed the entire TalkOrigins website because of a hacker issue. Fortunately, after much rabble-rousing Google reinstated the site.)

The Islamization of Europe

This video is a speech by British politician Nick Griffin at Clemson University on October 24, 2007. Mr. Griffin is well educated about Islam and what is happening in Europe as I write. The figures he gives are alarming, to say the least.

"In France...70% of all prisoners in French prisons are Muslims."

"In Muslim areas of London, white boys are relentlessly beaten night after night after night, just for being white and walking down the street. And white girls and Sikh girls and Hindu girls and black girls are relentlessly hit upon, quite often literally dragged, and gang-raped."

"...the rural areas of Norway now are literally filling up with middle-class liberals fleeing from Holland, where their ideology has helped to create in Holland a multicultural society which is set to be taken over by Islam, so now, the ones with the money are running away from it."

"The Parliamentary Commission in Holland last year concluded that by 2017 at the very latest all of Holland's cities would be majority Muslim."

"More than half of all school-aged children in France in 10 or 12 years will be Muslim."

"In Denmark, Muslims at present officially make up 5% of the population, but they take up 40% of all the money spent on welfare benefits."

And so on. Everyone needs to watch this video. This phenomenon does not end with the Atlantic Ocean but is finding its way, slower but as surely, across the Pond into Canada and the U.S. Australia and New Zealand are also being challenged in this regard. So far, South America remains relatively untouched, but there are growing settlements there - at this point largely terrorist operations - poised to assault the United States as well.

Sam Harris on Islam

The following is a partial transcript of a speech given in 2007 by philosopher Sam Harris regarding the mainstream muzzling of those who speak out about the very serious threat of Islam. We are extremely fortunate to have someone as eloquent, measured and persistent as Sam Harris to talk sense to the world at large during this very dangerous crossroads of human civilization. Harris could not be more correct in his assessments. We ignore his words at our own peril.

"Consider how we as atheists are constrained to talk about Islam. And Christians often complain that atheists balance - and the secular media, generally - balance every discussion of Islam with a discussion of extremist Christianity. The usual mode is to say, 'Well, they have their jihadists, but we have people who kill abortion doctors.' I think our Christian neighbors, even the craziest of them, are right to be outraged by this pretense of evenhandedness. The truth is that Islam is quite a bit scarier and more culpable for needless human misery at this moment than Christianity has been for a very, very long time. And we have to point this out.

"You might remember that Thomas Friedman recently wrote an op-ed from Iraq noticing that some Sunni militias were fighting alongside American troops against al-Qaeda, and he asked a Sunni militant why he was doing this. And the militant said that he had recently seen an al-Qaeda member decapitate an eight-year-old girl, and this convinced him that the American crusader forces were the lesser of two evils. Okay, great, so even Muslims, even Sunni militants, can discern the line between ordinary crazy Islam and the utterly crazy, once it is drawn in the spilled blood of little girls. This is a basis for hope of sorts.

"We have to be clear, unremittingly clear, about what is on the other side of that line. This is what we and the rest of the civilized world, and the semi-civilized world, are facing: Utter religious lunacy and barbarism in the name of Islam, with, I'm unhappy to say, some mainstream theology to back it up.

"To be evenhanded, as we are constrained to be as atheists, when discussing the problem of Islam, is to misconstrue the problem. The refrain that all religions have their extremists is bullshit - all religions don't have these extremists. Some religions have never had these extremists.

"A recent poll in the UK showed that a third of young British Muslims say they want to live under sharia law and think that anyone who wants to leave the faith should be put to death for apostasy. This is a third of British Muslims. 68% of British Muslims think that their neighbors who insult Islam should be arrested and prosecuted. 78% think that the Danish cartoonists should be brought to justice. These people do not have a clue about what constitutes a civil society.

"It seems to me that reports like this coming out of Muslim communities living in the West should concern us before anything else about religion concerns us."

Ayaan Hirsi Ali Saves Civilization

In her autobiography Infidel, the brilliant and beautiful freethinker Ayaan Hirsi Ali cuts through the irrational rationalization of the world's most brutal and oppressive ideology: Not "radical Islam," but ISLAM, period. And Hirsi Ali should know, because, as she explains in her book, she was for many years a very devout Muslim. As an outward expression of her ardent devotion to Islam and its god Allah - even before it became more "fashionable" where she lived in Africa - Hirsi Ali covered herself from head to toe in a baggy cloak so that her femaleness would not be revealed and endanger her to the ubiquitous perils for women in her culture. As we should already recognize from seeing the abuse with our own eyes, the fervent claim that Islam does not oppress women - frequently quite violently - represents one of the biggest deceits in the world today, and those who constantly put forth this palpably false assertion dismissing gender-apartheid within Islam should be loudly denounced. But the highly important work of Hirsi Ali goes much farther than simply denouncing the incredibly hideous treatment of women within Islam, as Ayaan undoubtedly represents one of the greatest voices of reason of all time in a battle for the very existence of human civilization.

Horribly mutilated at the age of five at the harsh hands of her stern grandmother and a local barber with a pair of scissors who cut off her genitals like a slab of meat, Ayaan Hirsi Ali speaks out loudly and clearly that such atrocities in her native Somalia are done not only to virtually every female of a certain age, but also IN THE NAME OF ISLAM. In fact, it was surprising for her to discover that there are claims - many quite frantic and unconvincing - that Islam does not call for female genital mutilation or "circumcision," as this despicable "cultural tradition" is euphemistically and flaccidly termed. Of course, not only Muslims practice this heinous savagery, but the majority of women and girls with disfigured genitals - an estimated 140 MILLION worldwide at the time of this writing - ARE Muslims, and such oppressive barbarism goes hand in hand with an ideology that without a doubt considers women as second-class subhumans designed mostly for sexual release, baby making and household slavery.

Needless to say, someone with such intelligence and wisdom as Ayaan Hirsi Ali was not content to spend her precious life merely as a piece of meat and slave. Hirsi Ali escaped this oppressive and dreadful future - and found a liberating and exquisite non-Muslim world that she could barely have imagined, based on the virulent infidel-hating dogma she had been taught since childhood. Although she does not opine that the non-Muslim world is perfect by any means, Hirsi Ali's vivid and disturbing descriptions of the contrast between what she left behind and what she discovered must give serious pause to the myriad and often trivial complaints against Western civilization. As she has said in interviews, you may spit upon the freedoms you were born with, but she cannot be so unappreciative and disrespectful, because she has literally experienced and witnessed real hell on Earth, and she is extremely grateful to have gotten out. By contrast, Western values at this current time seem like paradise - this notion is precisely what Hirsi Ali has attempted to impart over and over again in her writings and interviews. In other words, we've got it not just good but great. And this greatness is well worth fighting for - nay, it is essential we fight for it.

Despite the denials and justifications by those who cannot or will not face the horrible truth, the threat against the very survival of Western civilization is real, large and growing. If we do not wake up to this threat quickly, we will very likely find ourselves living in a world of submission and enslavement that we cannot even conceive. Hirsi Ali knows these facts to be true, as she has already lived through such a nightmare - and SHE DOES NOT WANT TO GO BACK. We who are enlightened cannot blame her at all, as we absolutely do not wish such a future for our own children - a perfectly dreadful thought straight out of our worst fears.

Do yourself and the world a favor - buy this book, read it, digest it, pass it along and support the efforts of the handful of individuals such as Ayaan Hirsi Ali in saving human civilization.
