Stop mutilating girls and women's genitals!

Stop mutilating girls and women's genitals!

This horrible procedure, which varies in degree of pathology from place to place, is completely unnecessary and is NOT ordained by any god person. It does not serve any social purpose except to prevent women from feeling sexual pleasure and to make them into unfeeling sex toys for men, who basically OWN them.

Why the Gospel of Luke dates to the second century

Why the Gospel of Luke dates to the second century

The Gnosticism and Heretical Spirituality Examiner (and my friend) Miguel Conner has written an article about the part in my book "Who Was Jesus? Fingerprints of The Christ" that demonstrates the late dating of the gospels.

Jesus or Horus | Born of a Virgin on December 25th

Jesus or Horus | Born of a Virgin on December 25th

This article provides a number of voices weighing in on the subject. Note that I have dedicated 120 pages in my book "Christ in Egypt" showing where exactly these contentions come from.

The Problem of Religion

The Problem of Religion

The concepts of God and religion have varied greatly over the millennia, in the sense that they have been developed within cultural contexts, with odd details and interpretations based chiefly on race, gender, language and environment.

I wrote this article some years ago, and it was published in "Paranoia" magazine. I've added some images and other niceties.

The ancient sun disk of Alaca Hoyuk

The ancient sun disk of Alaca Hoyuk

This object comes from the Hittite site of Alaca Hoyuk in Turkey, which dates to around 3,400 years ago. The Hittites were Indo-Europeans, the same as their neighbors of the time the Mitanni, who worshipped Indian gods. It is possible that this disk represents a sort of "trimurti" - Indian for "three forms" - referring to the divine Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. This triad might be represented by the three solar symbols with the crosses in the center, representing the sun, of course.

Bone-Box No Proof of Jesus

This article is especially useful in that it shows from the many comments by the media that after all these centuries we are still without any hard, scientific evidence of Christ's existence.

Bone-Box No Proof of Jesus

The original Biblical Archaeology Review article that scooped this story was blatant and injudicious in its pronouncements, flatly stating that "This container [ossuary] provides the only New Testament-era mention of the central figure of Christianity and is the first-ever archaeological discovery to corroborate Biblical references to Jesus."

Antiquity of the Christian Doctrine

Antiquity of the Christian Doctrine

How old is Christian doctrine? What parts of Christianity come from Paganism? 'Many of the more prominent doctrines of the Christian religion prevailed among nations of antiquity, hundreds, and in some instances, thousands of years before Christ. The doctrine of the miraculous conception was common in ancient times.'

Have 250 million been killed in the name of Christianity?

Have 250 million been killed in the name of Christianity?

Some years ago, I read this figure of 250 million murdered in the name of Christianity over the past nearly 2,000 years. The supporting data for this massive amount of deaths is not easy to find, so I'm collecting evidence here. In my search, I have found some interesting quotes such as the following, in response to the question of exactly how many have been slaughtered by Christ's minions.

The Jesus Puzzle

The Jesus Puzzle

It is a constant source of amazement to "freethinkers," rationalists and assorted (other) scholars and scientists that it is considered virtuous to blindly believe in the words of a man or a group of men concerning the matters of "faith" and "religion," when, if religion were to have any meaning at all, it would be about reality, honesty and integrity.

Inside The Mormon Church

Inside The Mormon Church

What is the relationship between the Mormon Church and Washington? Why and how are Mormons so powerful? With the previous speculative entrance into the presidential circus of Orrin Hatch, elder of the Mormon Church, and the current presidential bid by Mitt Romney, also a Mormon, as well as in consideration of the claim that Mormonism is one of the fastest growing sects, it seems appropriate to inform regarding "The Church of the Latter Day Saints," or "LDS." As many know, the LDS possesses considerable money and clout--far more than the demographics should allow for--yet few people realize how at least some of that fortune has been made.

Dr. Robert M. Price reviews 'Suns of God' | Acharya S

Dr. Robert M. Price reviews 'Suns of God' | Acharya S

The very learned Acharya S has spoken again. In a sequel to her wide-ranging The Christ Conspiracy, she has redoubled her efforts to show the solar - that is, the astro-theological - basis of all religions and mythologies, and to demonstrate that the great savior figures of the world's religions are late historicizations of the sacred sun myths. At the outset, let me make clear that I regard Acharya ("the Teacher," as she was dubbed by friends and students) as a colleague and fellow-laborer in the field of Christ-Myth scholarship.
