Who is the Mahdi?

Who is the Mahdi?

There has been much talk of late about the Muslim Messiah, called the "Mahdi," whose arrival is eagerly awaited by the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, among others. Indeed, the Iranian leadership recently reiterated its belief that the precious Mahdi would be arriving "soon," a belief very similar to that of many Christians, who have been awaiting "Christ's return" for the past nearly 2,000 years. An Atheist Here to Destroy?

An Atheist Here to Destroy?

It has been suggested that I am an "atheist" and am "very destructive." However, I am neither a theist nor an atheist, although, for the most part, I prefer atheists because they can think for themselves and are usually not as vicious as fervent believers.

Bible scholar 'exposes' Christian fraud

Bible scholar 'exposes' Christian fraud

According to leading biblical scholar Bart Ehrman, many of his contemporaries have it wrong when it comes to the Bible. Instead of calling biblical forgeries what they are - lies - they often fall back on safer scholarly terms, stopping just short of the word "forgery."

Islam's disturbing legacy of slavery

Islam's disturbing legacy of slavery

Slavery is a part of Islam... Slavery is part of jihad, and jihad will remain as long there is Islam... [Those who argue that slavery has been abolished are] ignorant, not scholars. They are merely writers. Whoever says such things is an infidel.

Devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan predicted?

Devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan predicted?

Regarding Japan, Sun Bear said: 'For Japan I see many more earthquakes, some volcanic eruptions, and severe flooding. These, combined with industrial pollution and the damage that will follow earthquakes, will make the area a very difficult place in which to survive. All of this will plunge Japan into economic chaos. Ultimately, I see Japan as a much smaller land area with very little evidence of its former development.'

Muslim reformer supports Congressional hearings on Radical Islam

Muslim reformer supports Congressional hearings on Radical Islam

Muslims must ask themselves that why these hearings are not about Buddhists or followers of the Bahai faith. The answer is simply that it is the indisputable statistics rather than individual opinions that made it a necessity to "single out" the Muslim communities in the West for these hearings. If Muslim communities were capable of solving the problem of home grown radicalism within their own communities, these hearings would not have been initiated.

Ancient Greek 'Altar of the 12 Gods' endangered by Athens railway

Ancient Greek 'Altar of the 12 Gods' endangered by Athens railway

An important ancient Greek archaeological site from the sixth century BCE, the Altar of the 12 Gods in the Agora at Athens, is currently endangered by the activity of a local railway company, the ISAP. One of the oldest ruins in the city, the altar honored the 12 Olympian gods: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Hestia, Apollo, Artemis, Hephaestus, Athena, Ares, Aphrodite and Hermes. Used as a point from which to measure distances in the city, the site is considered the very center or heart of Athens itself.
