Midnight however is easily measured as the mid-point between successive sunset and sunrise, and is a constant. I think it would be inconvenient if a new day started at midday, better to get it over with while your sleeping.adhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08071426054290731432noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24006920.post-68074461672653819262009-04-14T16:26:00.000-05:002009-04-14T16:26:00.000-05:00Given that a 24 hour day is needed in order to hav...Given that a 24 hour day is needed in order to have a "12-years-old child" at noon, do you know what brought the ancient peoples to decide that the hours should begin at midnight and not, for example, at dawn? Since then, I have wanted to congratulate you about it.

Since then, also, there is a question that strikes me from time to time:

Given that a 24 hour day is needed in order to have a "12-years-old child" at noon, do you know what brought the ancient peoples to decide that the hours should begin at midnight and not, for example, at dawn? Was it maybe more important the noon-time than the daybreak as a point of reference?

Thank you,

JordiSenador Lombrithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09862278416140255418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24006920.post-45052869088146955652009-04-10T03:05:00.000-05:002009-04-10T03:05:00.000-05:00I envy Arhata's trip to Kashmir, but what a naive ...I envy Arhata's trip to Kashmir, but what a naive dude he must have been! lmao!

It was a good fantasy read anyway and it's not a bad thing to be adventuresome, learn about new cultures and sites of a foreign country. As well the human weakness for telling tall tales. Okay, I got one more place for Arhata to visit just to make sure...hee hee!Rene Schergerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18308388010753017076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24006920.post-8508755505101374032009-04-09T11:52:00.000-05:002009-04-09T11:52:00.000-05:00Good golly! I was so amazed, because you'd never left the U.S. before - you'd never been in a place where English was not the main language.

And what a place to go! I recall you telling me about the lights going out every night to save electricity. Such a beautiful site, Kashmir, and so torn up by religious fanaticism.

Thanks so much for posting your opinions about this apparent product of priestcraft. I imagine it's fairly old, as in centuries, but not dating to the alleged time of JC.Acharya Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03091289754963053674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24006920.post-4555154845323252472009-04-09T11:48:00.000-05:002009-04-09T11:48:00.000-05:00More Hogwash!I bought into it in 1989 from a book ...More Hogwash!

I bought into it in 1989 from a book by a German author who said the tomb was in Srinagar, Kashmir largely populated by Muslims. It motivated me to travel to India (which I'm thankful for) and the "tomb" felt to be a scam by "wannabees" for attention.

Also, I took a trip to the edge of the Himalayas to see the alleged tomb of Moses whose tomb had been purportedly guarded by a succession of "holy men" since before "Christ."

In the book that I used as a guide was a picture of the "holy man" currently in charge - he was
there! Showed him the picture of himself - he had never seen it before and...the whole thing looked bogus! Shortly after that, a friend began researching the whole business and, the rest is history.

Happy Easter Bunny and Spring Soltice!Arhata Oshohttp://arhataosho.com/noreply@blogger.com
